FirstLine Digital, one of the UK’s largest independent installers of digital, terrestrial and satellite equipment, has been appointed by Shropshire Council to undertake a digital upgrade project.
Due to start in August 2010 the project involves undertaking work on 375 council owned properties in the Shropshire area. The work is necessary so that that all properties will be able to receive digital TV when the local ITV (Central TV) switchover takes place in 2012. FirstLine Digital is going to replace the existing cable system with an Integrated Reception System (IRS) which will allow access to digital TV when the switchover happens.
FirstLine Digital has also been awarded a 10 year maintenance contract for this work.
The first digital switchover took place in Whitehaven Cumbria November 2007 and during the next five years the rest of the UK will switchover to digital when the existing analogue signal will be turned off and replaced with a digital signal.
